Fielding Glove

Little League gloves are often marked with an age range, but size and strength of the player are perhaps the most significant criteria. Try on a number of gloves and select the glove that compliments the player.

Glove Rules:

1.12 - The catcher must wear a mitt of any shape, size or weight consistent with protecting the hand.

1.13 - The first baseman may wear a glove or mitt of any weight.

(a) Not more than 14 inches long from top to bottom.

(b) Not more than eight inches wide across the palm.

(c) Webbing not more than 5 3/4 inches wide.

1.14 Each defensive player must wear a glove of any weight, with the same maximum specifications as rule 1.13

1.15

(a) The pitcher's glove may not, exclusive of the piping,be white or light grey, nor in the judgement of an umpire be distracting in any manner.

(b) No pitcher shall attach to the glove any foreign material of a color different than the glove. The pitcher may wear a batting glove on the non-pitching hand under the pitcher’s glove provided the batting glove is not white, gray or optic yellow.

Batting Helmet

The league does not provide batting helmets.  They are, however, available if needed by any player or coach who requests them. If a player has his or her own helmet it must meet NOCSAE specifications and bear the NOCSAE stamp as well as an exterior warning label.

Under Little League rules, helmets may not be re-painted and may not contain decals or stickers any unless approved in writing by the helmet manufacturer or authorized dealer. This means players may NOT wear helmets with club ball logos or other decals.

Cleats

Cleats must be molded or turf-style.  Metal spikes are not permitted for players or coaches in Little League except in the Intermediate (50-70), Juniors and Seniors divisions.

Athletic Supporter / Protective Cup

1.17 - All male players must wear athletic supporters. Catchers (male) must wear the metal, fiber or plastic type cup and a long-model chest protector. Female catchers must wear long or short model chest protectors.

Hydration

Las Vegas's warm weather months can get exceptionally hot.  To protect against heat stress, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and heat illnesses, all players need to be hydrated before games and practices.

Players should bring plenty of bottled water or sports drinks to each practice and game.  One bottle is often not enough for a lengthy game.

EQUIPMENT THE LEAGUE PROVIDES

Uniforms

Summerlin North Little League is proud to supply our kids with high quality uniforms.  All uniforms shall meet the requirements of regulation 1.11.

All kids registered in the Spring will receive the following:

Jersey, Pants, Hat, Socks, & Belt

Each player and team must wear the entire uniform provided by the league.  Teams are not permitted to "upgrade" or otherwise alter uniform elements.  Starting in the Majors division and above we upgrade all jerseys to full button in the Spring.

Catcher's Gear

Each team is issued a set of  catcher's gear, appropriately sized for the division in which the team players.  This includes helmet, throat guard, chest protector, and shin guards.  In addition, each team is issued an All-Star catcher's mitt.  Left-handed catcher's mitts are available on request.

If players chose to use their own catcher's gear, they should be aware that Little League rules require the dangling-style throat protector for all catchers.  In addition, catchers must use a catcher's mitt and not a fielding glove.  Finally, the "skull cap" style catcher's helmet (with separate mask) is not permitted under Little League rules.

Hitting Tees

Every T-Ball team is issued a tee for use in practices and games.

Game Balls

Every team is issued a box of balls to get them started with practices.  At every game the home team will be issued 2 balls for use during the game.

First Aid & Safety Equipment

The league issues each team a first aid kit and we ask coaches to carry an ice pack.  In addition, a larger first-aid kit and ice is available in the  Snack Shack.  Snack Shack ice is for injuries only.
